REMINDER: Deadline for applications for the 2012 RCE Recognition Event is May 1

Good afternoon,

I would like to remind you of the upcoming Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Recognition Event. The event will take place on June 7 from 9:30AM - 2:00PM at the Wascana Centre (2900 Wascana Drive, Regina, Saskatchewan) and will recognize the innovative and creative ways that individuals and organizations are working to advance ESD in Saskatchewan.

The deadline to submit applications for consideration is on May 1. I have once again attached the call for nominations as well as the nomination application form to this email message. I invite you to submit an application for projects that you are working on or other ESD projects that you feel deserve recognition. Possible areas of educational work for sustainable development include:

- Building sustainable communities
- Climate change
- Farming and local food production
- Health and healthy lifestyles
- Reconnecting to natural prairie ecosystems
- Sustainable infrastructure including water and energy
- Cultural adaptation for sustainability

I would appreciate if you could pass this reminder on to others through your email contacts, websites, and listservers. If you are interested in applying for a recognition award but have not yet submitted an application, please send me an email so I know that you are interested. Completed applications can also be sent to my e-mail address at the bottom of this e-mail message.

Invitation to RCE SK to Participate in Canada's Day of the Child Event, Saskatoon

Dear RCE SK members,

We have been invited to participate in an event for Canada's Day of the Child in Saskatoon on November 20th, 2009. I have pasted the invitation from Sharon Elder below that explains the event along with two attachments that include the application form for a booth for that day. If you are an RCE member and interested in participating in the event, could you please contact Sharon and cc me as well? This looks to be a good opportunity to showcase ESD for young children. Best wishes, Roger.

Original Message:

My husband and I were recently at Craik to see theSolar Garden building and read more about the project in that area.  The newly opened Children’s Discovery Museum in Saskatoon, is co-hosting "Canada’s Day of the Child on November 20 at Market Mall.  This event is all about children – learning, exploring, expanding and being entertained.

I have attached a letter with more information about this event as well as the vendor booking sheet.  This event is for non profit or volunteer groups only.  We would be honored if RCE could attend.  The environment is an issue that even very small children are aware of and that everyone of all ages, should learn more about.

If you require more information or have questions, please contact me at this email ( or 978 1636.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on November 20.
