At this fall’s 13th Global RCE conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, RCE Saskatchewan co-coordinator Dr Roger Petry presented on a whole community approach to education for sustainable development. “As RCEs we focus on enabling our own partner organizations to embed ESD in their work, but we need to think much bigger,” he said. “Let’s imagine how to embed sustainable development principles into the fabric of our society at larger geographic scales, including government policies, trade agreements, and social clubs, and faith communities. Every element of our society has the potential to make a difference.”
Petry was part of a panel discussion, and connected with many of the 190 RCEs around the globe. “It was an inspiring gathering, for sure,” he said. He shared a presentation with RCE Saskatchewan partners at the group’s monthly meeting.
